LIVING WITH CF IN EUROPE… TODAY AND TOMORROW
Living with CF in Serbia
There are around 150 CF patients treated at the Mother and Child Institute, within the Pulmonology Department where 2 doctors and 4 nurses are engaged to deal with patients. This small team is very keen to provide CF patients with the care pursuant to European standards to the extent to which it is possible in the our existing circumstances relating to economic and financial situation. At the moment, the greatest problem that we face is the lack of saline inhaled antibiotics and nutritional supplements. Another issue that is also of great importance to us is education of chest physiotherapist and nutritionist, which, so far, we did not have.
Unfortunately, due to our not so good financial position, we are not able to attend the European CF Day nor Some Sunny Night musical, but we’ll do our best to make people aware in Serbia. We emphasize that on the basis of your initiative, this is the first time that patients and parents appear in public with this problem in an attempt to acquaint the broader community with this disease.
We wish you all the best for this important event and hope that we shall be able to attend next time.
Best regards,
Mira Zdravkovic
President, CF Association of the Republic of Serbia
