What do we do? - CFW/CFE Lay Seminar in Belek Turkey
Each year the European Cystic Fibrosis Society organizes the European CF Conference for health professionals and researchers. In the days prior to the conference special interest groups meet to discuss matters specific to their field of interest. CF Worldwide and CF Europe hold their Annual Meetings and organize a Seminar Day for persons with CF, families, member country representatives and others. The aim of this Seminar day is to present an update on CF care and research, comprehensible for lay people, and to enhance the exchange of information and experiences between persons with CF and associations from around the world.
In 2007 CF Worldwide and CF Europe hosted over 100 parents, patients and caregivers in Belek, Turkey. The agenda for the Seminar day consisted of; "CF Care and Research," "Airway Clearance Techniques," "Coping with CF from Different Perspectives," Parent, Sibling, Patient, "Capacity Building for National Associations," "CF Registries, how important can they be?" "CF Europe Update, future strategies and projects in Europe," The seminar was received well by all who attended and feedback from attendees will be used to create future Seminars.
