To mark the second pan-European Cystic Fibrosis Week, between the 15th
to the 21st of November 2010, the Romanian CF Association has started a media
campaign about cystic fibrosis and patients problems in Romania. We wanted
to inform as much people as possible in this week about what CF is and how
CF affects the lives of patients.
CF care in Romania still needs to be improved. There is a poor access of
patients to medicines, to medical care and to information. Because there is a lack of qualified medical specialists
(physiotherapists, nutritionists, psychologists) in Romania, we thought to fill this
gap through organizing conferences in order to inform patients and
physicians about CF and modern treatment possibilities of CF.
Thus, on 20 and 21 November 2010 we organized in Bucharest a physiotherapy
course for patients with CF and their families (http://afcr.ro/?p=882). This course was attended by over 55 people (patients and their families). The course provided an opportunity for patients and families to learn about the latest physiotherapy techniques used in the treatment of cystic
fibrosis. The course lecturer was Prof. Dr. Peter Borka, a highly experienced
physiotherapist from Hungary. Our partners were Romanian Society of Pneumology and "Alfred Rusescu" Mother and Child Institute, Bucharest.
