Report of 5th European CF Young Investigator Meeting, Lille, France

By Reka Bodnar MD, PhD student from Hungary, who participated for the first time in this European meeting for young CF researchers.

The 5th European CF Young Investigator Meeting was located at the Faculty of Medicine in Lille. The Meeting was a great opportunity to learn more about CF, to be informed about new researches of CF. New friendships and collaborations were made. The organization of the meeting was excellent. I am happy that I could be there. I learned a lot on the first day about how to create a poster presentation in English. I think we all learned something new from drs Ingrid E.C. de Beer on this course. On the second day there were presentations about gene therapy and cell biology. On the third day in the microbiology session studies were presented about the diagnosis of infection with Staphylococcus aureus, MRSA, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Prevotella spp., and Burkholderia cepacia. The last session was about immunology. On the last day were the clinical issues session with interesting topics, like sinonasal pathology, vitamin K status, cardiac autonomic neuropathy and quality of life.

I would like to thank the Vaincre la Mucoviscidose and the Cystic Fibrosis Europe who made the journey to Lille possible for me. I would like to say thanks for the useful remarks on our study to chairman M. Ballman and Karleen De Rijcke. This information will be useful for us in the future. Thanks for the opportunity to present our study Quality of life of paediatric patients with cystic fibrosis on the 5th European CF Young Investigator Meeting. It was a great privilege for me.
