OBJECTIVES
To understand the respiratory patho-physiology from the start, progressing effects on breathing pattern, ventilation distribution, lung volumes and costs of breathing
To highlight the influence of ambition level and treatment goals on treatment approach
To describe conceivable content of modern CF physiotherapy and factors influencing effects of inhalation therapy, choice of airway clearance techniques and allocation of physical exercise
To discuss the different factors influencing and the importance of achieving optimal adherence
WORKSHOPS:
WORKSHOP 1: LUNG INFECTION& TREATMENT
OBJECTIVES
The outcome of this workshop is largely dependent on the cases presented by the participating doctors!!!
Topics that can be discussed:

- infection with Non Tuberculous microorganisms
- efficacy of nebulisers to be used for inhalation with antibiotics
- treatment of acute infectious exacerbations
WORKSHOP 2: NUTRITION FOR THE NEWBORN WITH CF
OBJECTIVES
To be as interactive as possible
To identify and discuss nutritional problems found in the untreated infant with CF
To identify and discuss methods of achieving optimal nutrition in the newborn
To consider and discuss the introduction of pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy in the newborn
To discuss the management of newborns who require special consideration e.g. those with meconium ileus or failure to thrive
WORKSHOP 3: PHYSIOTHERAPY FOR NEWBORNS AND YOUNG CHILDREN
OBJECTIVES
To discuss current knowledge about apparently asymptomatic infants
To evaluate early symptoms in small children and assessment of therapy
To discuss how to individually tailor adequate treatment for small children
