CYSTIC FIBROSIS IN LEBANON

As a disease, Cystic Fibrosis was a territory where Lebanon knew and did little. Disguised as just a rough cough, the illness has been mistakenly once and over again diagnosed as chronic bronchitis or just another case of asthma.

The limited medical knowledge and the lack of necessary treatments and health care in Lebanon in regards to CF meant that the current average life expectancy of a CF child is a mere 13 years.

To put a halt to this injustice, CLFB was founded in 2008 upon the premises of our human right to a chance of life. Granting children suffering from Cystic Fibrosis (CF) with the best possible social and health care conditions, CFLB today is aiding over 70 families of children with CF.

In providing early detection tests and proper medical assistance, CFLB is aiming to improve not just the years of life but the quality of life for a CF patient. With increasing patient numbers and increasing medical requirement, CFLB believes that by joining the world in our efforts a world of a difference ca be made. And so, CFLB is also proud to announce its admission as a member of Cystic Fibrosis Worldwide since January 2008.

As the CFLB team works determinedly to reach its goal, challenges are always met and our dreams are kept close to heart. Looking ahead, we aim not to lose sight of what is important…our children. And while working for these children we also aim not to lose our most valuable asset… our humanity.
