Luxemburg: Concert de bienfaisance 8-11-2008
 On the 8th of November 2008, the ALLM will be host of a high level cultural event at the
Conservatoire de Musique de la Ville deLuxembourg. The State Philharmonic Orchestra 'BANATUL' from
Timişoara will perform “Carmina Burana” and “New World Symphony”.
Why does a small
association, run by volunteers only, organise such a high profile concert? Surely, because we have a
passion for high quality classical music. Certainly, because we think that intercultural exchanges
are very important. But mostly, because we want to help the children and young adults who suffer
from Cystic Fibrosis.
The objective of the ALLM is to increase the life expectancy and the
quality of life of people who suffer from Cystic Fibrosis, a disease for which there is still no
cure. Although the median survival has steadily increased in the past decennia, still today many
patients in our region do not reach adulthood. In Romania the life expectancy of patients with
Cystic Fibrosis is even much lower than in our region. Since it is a Romanian orchestra that makes
this charity concert possible, we decided to donate half of the benefits to our Romanian sister
organisation, the Asociatia Romana de Mucoviscidoza.
