BOOK REVIEW:

What They Don't Tell You:
A Young Person's Guide to Sexual and Reproductive Health Issues in Cystic Fibrosis

Produced by the Centre for Adolescent Health of the Royal What they Don't Tell YouChildren's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, this booklet covers issues ranging from fertility and pregnancy to sexual health.

The fact that Susan Sawyer, (a regular contributor on sexual health matters to the IACFA Newsletter) was a major participant in its production, is a good indication of this booklet's high quality and potential as a wonderful resource for people with cf (pwcf).

This literature is written in a user-friendly way and can be used by pwcf (young and old) for reference throughout their lives, and would also be beneficial to those close to them, i.e. partners/family.

This booklet not only explains issues that are often sensitive and sometimes embarrassing, but also offers advice on where to seek further information if needed.

The layout of 'What They Don't Tell You' is well designed to be easy to browse and the text is accompanied by cartoon strip style illustrations by Kaz Cooke, a contemporary cartoonist who is popular in Australia. These comical interludes are another factor of this booklet that helps to make the reader more at ease with topics that will affect most of us at various points of our lives.

I would recommend this booklet to all people in the cf community.
