World Ambassador Burke P. Bear Raises over $106,000 for
CF Research
He's the perfect gift for all occasions, and his goal is
to bring a little love, peace, and having fun throughout
this terror-torn world in addition to helping to cure Cystic
Fibrosis. He's Burke P. Bear, the inspirational teddy bear
who was named after Burke P. Derr, a Pennsylvania teenager
who died due to CF in 1997.
Burke P. Bear was proclaimed "The Pennsylvania Ambassador
for Love, Peace, Having Fun, and Curing Cystic Fibrosis"
by the PA House of Representatives in June 1999. Through
the Pennsylvania Cystic Fibrosis, Inc. (PACFI) 'Million
Dollar Bear' campaign and 'Burke's Tour', the Ambassador
of Love (as he's been dubbed by journalists) has toured
32 states and several world countries including England,
Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Greece, Nepal,
Israel, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Brazil, and Australia.
His goal is to raise millions for CF research and to spread
his ambassador's message: Love each other, live peacefully,
have fun, and help cure CF.
The Pennsylvania Association of Medical Suppliers (PAMS)
is helping PACFI with the campaign/tour. PAMS has sold over
1800 Burke P. Bears in raising funds for CF research. Signed
Burke P. Bears, along with a copy of the Burke story, can
be ordered through the PAMS website at www.pamsonline.org.
We have received many heart-warming messages from people
who tell us that Burke P. Bear has a magical ability to
make everyone "feel just a little bit better."
That means a lot to us, because our Burke had a special
spirit that touched everyone he met.
