FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK

Dear Readers,

It is my pleasure to present my first issue as Editor of Cystic Fibrosis Worldwide’s newsletter. I am happy to report that this edition contains some great articles from CF experts that represent a wide range of topics — neonatal screening, prevention of cross-infection, hypertonic saline therapy, exercise, CFW projects, and organ donation to name a few.

At the European Cystic Fibrosis Society conference this summer in Crete, Greece, I met dedicated doctors, physiotherapists, nurses, and health professionals who are enriching the lives of CF patients all around the globe. I hope to continue these relationships so that I can bring you the latest news in the world of CF!

We’re starting a new project in India that includes an epidemiology study that will act as a springboard towards a comprehensive CF care plan in India. We have also elected new board members — Mitch Messer (Australia) is the new President/Treasurer, Peggy Green (Canada) is the new Vice President, Enrique Silver (Uruguay) is the Secretary, and Ulrica Sterky (Sweden), and Katarina Stepankova (Slovak Republic), also sit on the board.

It is with sadness that I say good-bye to President Herman Weggen, who has led CFW since its merger with ICF(M)A in 2000. I would also like to say farewell to Gina Steenkamer, who worked at CFW’s administrative office up until this year. Good luck to all and thank you all for supporting CFW’s vital work.

With Thanks,

Jill Weinstein
